The sequencing project involves 30,000 full length cDNAs from a normalized xylem library in pBlueScript vector, 40,000 cDNAs from a leaf library in the lambda phage vector Trp1Ex2, and 3,500 ESTs from 7 SSH libraries in the pGEMT-Easy vector, enriched in ESTs preferentially expressed in the xylem or during acclimatation to cold.
The average size of the clones in the cDNA libraries is estimated to be about 1.4 kb and that of the inserts in the SSH libraries is 500 bps. The expected number of single reads in 5' is about 73,500, for a total of about 1 Mb.
