Genoscope is undertaking to sequence the whole genome of the bacteria Clostridium sticklandii (DSM 519). The genome size for this strain is estimated at 2.8 Mb.

Sequence coverage for the genome is 12X. Three libraries are being sequenced : 30,000 clones with 3 kb inserts and 10,000 clones with 10 kb inserts in a pCNS vector (low copy number) and nearly 6,500 clones with 40 kb inserts in a fosmid vector (pCC1Fos).

A manual finishing stage will be performed at Genoscope.
