UPA00033 L-lysine biosynthesis via AAA pathway~Biosynthesis of L-lysine through the alpha-amino adipic acid (AAA) pathway. It was first believed that this pathway was a specific character of fungi. In 1998, a gene cluster of a thermophilic bacterium (Thermus thermophilus) was shown to synthesize L-lysine through the AAA pathway. This pathway is present in hyperthermophilic archaea too (P. horikoshii and P. abyssi).
