Our research interests

Our current research interests focus on identifying emerging challenges in the relatively young research field of microbial epigenomics. In particular, we are interested in obtaining a greater understanding of i) how genetic flux is controlled by DNA methylation; ii) how epigenetic regulation modulates bacterial virulence, adaptation and pathogenesis; iii) the interplay between methylome, gene regulation and DNA topology; iv) bacteria-phage warfare, defensomes, and counter-defensomes.

A stimulating working place

We are affiliated to the UMR 8030 research unit and are located at the CEA - Genoscope (30 Km south of Paris). Since its creation and participation in the Human Genome Project, the Genoscope maintains its international competitiveness through the participation in large-scale genomics projects of great scientific and societal impact. Our team benefits from a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, including biologists, microbiologists, computer scientists, and bioinformaticians, as well as state-of-the-art genomics equipment and expertise via the Sequencing Laboratory.

Funding

  • We are integrating third generation long-read sequencing and comparative (epi)-genomics to reveal the biological mechanisms central to microbial evolution and adaptation.
