The analysis of full-length cDNA constitutes an indispensible approach for the characterization of the structure and function of the genes.
A series of technological advances has made it possible to develop an original method of production of full-length cDNA (Clepet et al 2004 Nucleic Acids Res.; 32(1) :e6). Based on the utilization of this protocol, several libraries are being constructed with a view to sequencing 50,000 clones. The set of transcript sequences thus characterized will be especially useful in the annotation of the genomic sequence of Vitis vinifera.
