Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the genome of a phytopathogenic bacterium transmitted by seeds: Xanthomonas axonopodis pv phaseoli var. fuscans. The size of its genome is about 5 Mbases and the G-C ratio is about 65%.
400 000 reads will be obtained on Gsflx equipment and a maximum of (insert number) reads will be formed on ABI 3730 sequencers. The ensemble may finally be completed by Solexa type reads.
Finishing of the sequence will be carried out on non-repetitive regions until standard quality criteria are reached.
