Sequencing

1: What is the DNA sequence?

3: How do we sequence DNA?

5: Why were Genome Centers created?

We have just seen that the determination of the sequence of large genomes requires millions of reads. For economc reasons it is much more efficient to perform these millions of manipulations on a large scale in appropriate structures, the sequencing centers: the work in these centers is organized and partially robotized such that every day it is possible to perform several thousands or tens of thousands of reads at lower cost than in a traditional research laboratory.

These centers have been constructed in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, China and France, where Genoscope is the only institute of this type.
