Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the genome of the wine yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae EC1118.
The size of the genome of this strain is estimated at about 13 Mb. It will be sequenced at a depth of 6X, using two libraries: 33 000 inserts of 3 kb cloned in the multicopy vector pcdna2.1 and 18 000 inserts cloned in the pCNS vector (low copy number).
