The complete sequence of Pseudomonas entomophila L48

Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the bacterium Pseudomonas L48, a pathogenic parasite of Drosophila melanogaster.

The size of this genome of this bacterium is estimated at about 6 Mb. The genome will be sequenced at 6X depth, using three libraries: about 15,000 inserts of 3 kb cloned in a pcdna2.1 vector (small copy number), about 3,800 inserts of 10 kb cloned in a pCNS vector (high copy number), and close to 4,600 inserts of 20 kb cloned in a miniBAC (pBBC) vector. A manual finishing step will be carried out at Genoscope.
