Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the genome of the strain ATCC9614 of Proprionibacterium freudenreichii ssp shermanii, which has an estimated size of 2.6 Mb and a GC content of 67 %.
A plasmid library of about 14,000 clones will be produced, with inserts of about 10 kb cloned in low copy-number vector pCNS, and a miniBAC library of 2,500 clones (25 kb inserts in the pBBC vector) will be constructed. The final assembly will incorporate the 15,000 sequences already produced by INRA.
