Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the marine bacteria Zobellia galactonivorans and Salinibacter ruber M8.

The size of each genome of these bacteria is extimated at about 4,1 Mb and 3.8 Mb respectively. Each genome will be sequenced at 12X depth, using three libraries: about 25,000 inserts of 3 kb cloned in a pcdna2.1 vector (small copy number), about 8,000 inserts of 10 kb cloned in a pCNS vector (low copy number), and close to 4,000 inserts of 20-25 kb cloned in a miniBAC (pBBC) vector.
A manual finishing step will be carried out at Genoscope.
