Thiomonas spp, Genoscope´s other sequencing projet, is a bacteria with the samedetoxicate potential as Herminiimonas
Web site of GDR about the metabolism of arsenic in prokaryotes.
Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of the beta-proteobacterium, Herminiimonas arsenicoxydans sp. nov.: a bacterium capable of oxidizing and reducing arsenic with the goal of detoxification.
The size of this genome of this bacterium is extimated at about 5 Mb. The genome will be sequenced at 10X depth, using three libraries: about 25,000 inserts of 3 kb cloned in a pcdna2.1 vector (high copy number), about 8,000 inserts of 10 kb cloned in a pCNS vector (small copy number), and close to 4,000 inserts of 20-25 kb cloned in a miniBAC (pBBC) vector. A manual finishing step will be carried out at Genoscope.
