The aldolases and transketolases represent two of the large families of enzymes which form (or break) C-C linkages by forming asymetric centers, a property which is very important in chemical synthesis. The goal of this project is to enlarge the possible industrial applications of these enzymes by the discovery of new means for creating C-C linkages.
