The random sequencing performed by the production team generates data which are stored, sorted and filtered by procedures which have been installed by the informatics team. A first assembly of the data is performed by the « finishing » teams. The « finishing » step of a project consists of completing the “assembled” sequence by complementary reads and resequencing of areas in which the quality is bad (“polishing”). This work is performed by two specialized groups, one of which works on regions of genomic DNA and the the other of which works on small genomes.
Small genome finishing team
The great majority of the projects of this group involve bacterial genomes.

Genomic regions finishing Team
The projects managed by this group are genomic regions between 150 Kb and several dozen Mb, cloned in biologic vectors called BACs.
