Project:
State of the project:
The project consists of sequencing a region of about 200 kb of the X chromosome of Drosophila simulans. The sequencing of this region will permit comparison of its organization with that of “wild-type” chromosomes which do not distort meiosis, and will help in the identification of the distortion elements.
In this context, Genoscope is undertaking the sequencing of 4 BACs covering this region. Each of the BACs will be sub-cloned (5 kb inserts in pcdna2.1), followed by shotgun sequencing with 10X coverage, and then a finishing step.
