Botrytis cinerea is a haploid fungus which is pathogenic for grapevines. The objective of this project is to perform a 10X “shotgun” sequencing of the genome of B. cinerea (30 Mb) and of 5,000 full length cDNAs from different physiological conditions (germinating spores, appressoria, mycelium, spores). The sequencing volume is about 600,000 reads.

The assembly will be facilitated by the existence of a collection of 9,800 BAC end sequences and a genetic map which is in the process of being developed.
The annotation will be carried out by URGI with the help of:

  • automatic gene prediction
  • search for orthologs especially fungal
  • manual annotation by an international consortium
