Genoscope is one of the six groups participating in the AGI (Arabidopsis Genome Initiative), whose goal is to complete the sequence of the Arabidopsis thaliana genome by the end of 2000.
Genoscope is involved in the Arabidopsis sequencing by :
- Determining, in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania, as part of the SPP Consortium and TIGR Sequencing Center, the end sequences of BAC clones from both TAMU and IGF libraries.
- Coordinating a European Union project to sequence the whole chromosome 3 bottom arm.
- Sequencing 1 Mbase of the chromosome 3 bottom arm as part of the above EU project.
