Mouse Radiation Hybrid Mapping Project

The Genoscope, in collaboration initially with an EEC Mouse Transcript Consortium, has constructed a high-density transcription map of the mouse genome by localising mouse ESTs (expressed sequence tagged sites) onto the T31 mouse radiation hybrid panel.

The availability of this high density transcript map will facilitate studies on the biology of the mouse and generate candidate genes for the many mouse mutants for which the gene responsible remains to be identified.

The Genoscope / EU radiation hybrid panel is a subset of the T31 mouse radiation hybrid panel.

Our data are available in a numbet of different forms. Framework maps based primarily on MIT microsatellite typing data generated at both the Genoscope / EU and Whitehead Institute has been established and used to establish first release comprehensive maps integrating the 4,000 or so gene based markers (ESTs) which could be localised onto the framework map with the highest degree of statistical certainty. These maps will be updated at regular intervals.
Two classes of markers were not included in the February 1 comprehensive maps. Those markers which were typed too late for inclusion, and those which did not meet the very highest levels of statistical stringency for incorporation in the maps. The totality of our data, including markers falling into these latter two categories, can be consulted via the chromosome map viewer subprogramme or through the vector localisation subprogramme.

All the EST localisation data that has been generated is also presented in the form of vector scores accompagnied by the relevant primer sequences. The localisation of such ESTs, as stand alones, can be visualised by going to the vector localisation form page and scrolling to find the relevant EST before submitting the query. EST data external to the consortium may be mapped against the consortium's framework maps by entering the ESTs name and typing in the vector score in the relevant hybrid order.

Tools :

  • External User EST|STS Localization system
  • A vector score translation tool, for the T31 <-> Genoscope / EU radiation hybrid panel.
  • A subset of the ESTs that have been mapped at the Genoscope can be visualised in their appropriate chromosomal interval using the following form.
